The Origin of Gil Scott Heron
As any of you who frequent this site already know. This is my favorite MC hands down. Also one of my greatest inspirations. His artwork has held me down many a Sunday afternoon. This is such a great series I had to share.

CRAY Z Deranged
Yeah last night whooooo, had a blazt!!!!! Ended up having some fams I've known for a long time come in town to do a show at the Speakeasy. My man C Rayz Walz and John Robinson (LIL Sci) came and shut it down.......... I had a hell of a night, lotta TOYz got played out last night from a wannabe heckler to a wack ass graph artist, things got a lil grilchy. I started wit Absinthe, which was my first time going in on it...had a shot and a "Death in the Afternoon".....pretty intense tings dey. I then linked up with the team and a fly slapboxing suicide girl looking punk rock chick. Them type chicks always look vicious in a sexy way but scare super easy. I think the tattooos and piercings are there to cover up how tender they really are LOL. So as we proceed, the show was smash. I actually got up there wit Walz and spit a lil something. Don't know if y'all know it but this cat is a member of our secret society..........pep the logo tatted on him hahahahahahhaha a soldier and a rebel, say what you will about him, but he's 1 million percent him.
The homie John Robinson was in a crew called Scienz of Life which was an integral part of the NY underground and Fondle Em Records (II) lol, but he has recently reinvigorated himself and continued on the path. He also was on my first single damn near 10 yrs ago. Another family member and rising name in the game. It's always great seeing him. His brother Invizzibl Hands(which is the name I gave him) ID 4 Windz stays close to my heart. These are some real brothers man. John proceeded to prove why he's definitely a threat last night. Excellent Show.
So yeah I also had to grip up some spray cans and TOY the shit out of some trash last night.....What you thinking fam? U think I aint the embodiment? You sadly mistaken family. I come from the era of boomboxes, cardboard on the concrete, 'know when HipHop was outside and there was no internets. A tape was the internets back in the day, you used to dub some ill shit and it spread from person to person. There was heavy airbrush on the shirts, and fashion was the 5th element. DJ,MC,Breakdancing,Graphiti, and fashion. Go back to school suckaz........anyways, I ended up getting tilton bradley and made my sojourn home, some other shit happened but peep my tweets for details. 1
Oh and EFFFFFF the Beast dem nah ready for my red eye!!!!!!!!!!!!!

knowledge reigns supreme 1
went to KRS show last night and it was packed. Females in high heels to straight grimey kids.....ALL HipHop fans.....This is like I said my100th time seeing the god do his thing. Always a huge influence on me and everyone who considers themselves children of this culture. If a movie needs to be made on anyone it should be this "living" legend. KRS influences me to throw all trash rappers off the stage and then educate them on why they were thrown.

off center
This post, I'm giving Fab some shine for being able to hold it down. This kid is a future king of the game and truly should set a standard for the new cornballs that are coming out based on strictly marketing rather than actually having that raw spit. Now if only he can match the intensity of his mixtapes with his albums.

reminisce over you
Damn went to go check my man Goldies blog JUNGLEJEM45 and realized that he had a picture of my late great homie Jax and Binkis Recs fam as his heading. I glimpsed and saw myself in the background wit my red fitted on from an appearance I made to spit a verse to the song we dedicated to my man DJ Ox who passed a few years ago. Looking at this flick took me back to that night and how much fun we had during that set. It also brought back the realization that the end of an era has come with Jax's untimely passing. Looking at this picture made me realize and feel thankful that I was a part of this movement here in ATL of trying to keep the raw essence of our culture alive. I also have to do my part to keep it maintaining. Even amongst the current trendy fake dudes who never lived it and the cats who had connections with some certain "circuits" and feel that they can do this too(well since they got the connections why not, it don't matter about skills).
Well this year. I got an agenda too and that's to shut that shit down and maintain the real blue label standard. That's word to Jax.

One of my favorite songs
And I don't know the artist. I was digging thru my tape collection because I've been looking for old gems. Anyone who knows me knows I keep my collection game on point. From records to magazines to comic books to cd's to sneakers to old clothes to colognes etc. Anyway my tape collection spans a few duffle bags full. I used to tape HipHop radio for years. At least since 1989. Anyways I found this tape from 1997 with a lot of Canibus(A MONSTER AT THE TIME)some Pun,some Gravedigga's(that second album had joints and was slept on heavy)some CNN,some Prodigy joints dissing Keith Murray, some of Big Noyd's first Ep which was aiight too.But there was this one joint that I Loved. Definition of HipHop in a song if I ever heard one. Ill minamalist beat and 2 mc's just spazzing, going in elevating themselves with every bar. This is the HipHop I remember hearing on the streets of the east coast growing up. It was about wordplay 100%. No flashy shit, just basically how ill you could put words together.
So I found the joints and I just had to transfer it from the tape to digi audio so pardon the shitty quality, but if anyone heard this joint and knows who it is. GET AT me immediately.
Peace

Agree 100% with this cat
And anyone who knows me knows I ain't the biggest Butttons fan. I respect dudes work ethic and have come somewhat moderately to his side tho'. I'm down wit him Ortiz,Royce and Crooked trying to bring HipHop back to lyrics.........I ain't drank the Kool Ade on following these tight jeans singer dudes. Only tight jeans emo singers I'm feeling is Santogold and M.I.A, but they jeans is baggier then some of these dudes running around looking like Rainbow Bright.
I know some cats who read my blog like what's going on in music these days and that's beautiful cuz we aint supposed to be clones liking the same shit. I'm a dinosaur wit mines tho', gimme BootCamp,WuTang,Gangstarr,Death Row(vintage;Kurrupt was a beast),Nas and Brand Nubian over anything people have tried to tell me was dope fr the past few years.........YES I'm still Timz and Hoodchecked, even tho my sneaker game is Fascist.

CuRRENT LISTENING-Killa Sin
from the tail end of the WU era..............................................met this cat in Atlanta once. This kid was a problem................This jawn right here is the answer to when people say, "yo you listen to such and such or you feel such and such" and I say NO!!!!!!
HipHop is supposed to give you a feeling. It's like being with a chick and you don't pop off. At the end are you just happy to be going thru the motions or are you aggy that you didn't get to get that feeling and FINISH?
HipHop these days has a severe case of blueballs.
Now enjoy disssss

both hands crusty.......
mighty healthy
ghosts best album
rap is like zitti
play mics like Ted Koppel
Mrs Dash sprinkled wit a icicle eyelash
velour down like the sheik of Iran
a pair of bright yellow airmax 50 dollas son no tax or something of the sort.....Ghost chopped carrots, broccoli, cowfoot, ox tails and some choice Chinese/Italian dishes this album. I took a trip to Florida this past weekend for Thanksgiving. Strong 8 hr. drive..........and I had some Ghost keeping me awake. This album let it be known that Starks was the officially best out the Clan. Meth carried the torch first, then it passed hands from Dirty to Gza,to Rae and Ghost, then back to Ghost.........Ironman was dope, but this one had the excitement and polish Ironman lacked. Don't get me wrong Ironman had bangers and still probably my fave Ghost Song "Fish" next to Mighty Healthy, but this really made the Clientele Supreme.I been listening to the best of Killa Sin and some Superb verses popped into the mix. I know they fell out and that Perbs in jail(as is Killa Sin) but the mesh between him and Ghost was flawless. I'm not afraid to say I preferred Ghost and Perb's ranting of "my tape stay at the beginning cuz that's how they rewind" to ANYTHING He's ever done with Theodore Unit. Trife got skills and I like some of Solomon Child's darts, but the rest uhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Just wanted to drop this timeless album on the blog just cuz some of y'all may need to pull it off the shelf if you haven't listened to it for a while and soak that jawn in.........Ghost makes some of the best travellin music......Oh and by the way, I had to put "The Watch" and "The Sun" on my version as well hahahahahahahahah. Actually "The Watch" is like top 3 Ghost songs of all time. THE not so sublliminal shot at DMX is hilarious "this nigga barking and shit, I'm the Don of this shit". And the 50 cent Clyde Smith skit let Fitttty know his dig at the Clan didn't go unnoticed.

Illest video I've seen in a minute
The song isn't bad either. 88 Keys form his mixtape before the album he just put out dropped. Homies on some Jungle Brothers 1989 nose ring shit. I dap him for being individual in his style. Also this joint is crazy. The game needs more originality.

MY HIPHOP
FROM MY HEART

Remember those days when you could feel the culture? I have to ask. Are you over 26yrs old? Do you remember the Night of the Living Baseheads video? Remember boomboxes over the shoulder? Raccoon hats? What about Starter jackets with the hat to match. Don't make me break out some vintage polo or any of my duffel bags full of cassette tapes. Comic books and water uzi's..Bamboo earrings, 4 finger rings,Pagers/Beepers(I had a see thru jawn), How about a Sony Walkman? I went thru 30-40 of em.rewinding those damn tapes.....Shoot, I bought EPMD Strictly Business at least 9 times on tape. That was my most prized possession at one time, not my Gucci or Swatch watch, or my 3 finger Nike Swoosh ring, or my Coca Cola sweatshirts, but my damn EPMD tape. That album,One for all Brand Nubian,It takes a Nation of Millions,Licensed to Ill, NWA Straight Out of Compton,BDP By Any Means Necessary,Geto Boys We Can't Be Stopped. THE Albums that truly truly defined me. That will always be my favorite era. Only time that ever came close to that was 1995. To me at least.
Now y'all know why I won't cop "retro" Jordans......................I never want to taint the memory of the collection of sneaks I had back then. I remember "working" just to cop kicks. That was the good thing about living under mom's roof. NO BILLS. I could get fresh, eat good and have them late night convo's with a nice young tender. A nice smooth convo. Til' one of my other chicks would make an emergency breakthru. No call waiting famz.
ahh, I reminisce,I reminisce.............
