The Ghost

Styles P Speaks On Formation Of D-Block & More (14 Mins)

Easily one of my favorite Mcs'. EASILY. I always fucked wit S.P the Ghost the most out of the Lox back in the day, even tho everyone else always liked Kiss. It was something about his wordplay and voice that always had me. He reminded me of them classic street cypher cats who had THAT SHIT. The ability to come in the cypher and give you some simple yet complicated metaphors that you'd have to listen to every line to really peep. It just always had that raw feel. I mean he's held his own on tracks with BIG,Jay-Z,Nas,Ghostface,Beanie Siegel and countless others. Always repped streets 1st Industry second and has the ability to hop on r and b joints without them bein corny. Matter of fact he makes the r and b joints more accessible and grounded if anything. He is a cat who's work ethic is literally unmatched when it comes to putting out new shit for the streets. I always consider it a GREAT DAY when I get some new S.P to bump in the whip. This is the definition of grit your teeth and go hard in the gym music, that good old hop out the whip and backslap the first tender hearted cat you see and tell em to straighten up. The Ghost ladies and gents is definitely for you if you need that motivation to get EXTRA.

peep the new mixtape as well where he has bars aimed at the whole tight jeans movement these new cats is trying to get everybody on board with.............................If you rocking your jeans all tight like a female or listen to that tight jean colored music I recommend that you don't fuck wit artists like Styles P, DOOM or Ghostface cuz you may get your sensitive assed feelings hurt.

both hands crusty.......

Photobucket

mighty healthy

ghosts best album

rap is like zitti

play mics like Ted Koppel

Mrs Dash sprinkled wit a icicle eyelash

velour down like the sheik of Iran

a pair of bright yellow airmax 50 dollas son no tax or something of the sort.....Ghost chopped carrots, broccoli, cowfoot, ox tails and some choice Chinese/Italian dishes this album. I took a trip to Florida this past weekend for Thanksgiving. Strong 8 hr. drive..........and I had some Ghost keeping me awake. This album let it be known that Starks was the officially best out the Clan. Meth carried the torch first, then it passed hands from Dirty to Gza,to Rae and Ghost, then back to Ghost.........Ironman was dope, but this one had the excitement and polish Ironman lacked. Don't get me wrong Ironman had bangers and still probably my fave Ghost Song "Fish" next to Mighty Healthy, but this really made the Clientele Supreme.I been listening to the best of Killa Sin and some Superb verses popped into the mix. I know they fell out and that Perbs in jail(as is Killa Sin) but the mesh between him and Ghost was flawless. I'm not afraid to say I preferred Ghost and Perb's ranting of "my tape stay at the beginning cuz that's how they rewind" to ANYTHING He's ever done with Theodore Unit. Trife got skills and I like some of Solomon Child's darts, but the rest uhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Just wanted to drop this timeless album on the blog just cuz some of y'all may need to pull it off the shelf if you haven't listened to it for a while and soak that jawn in.........Ghost makes some of the best travellin music......Oh and by the way, I had to put "The Watch" and "The Sun" on my version as well hahahahahahahahah. Actually "The Watch" is like top 3 Ghost songs of all time. THE not so sublliminal shot at DMX is hilarious "this nigga barking and shit, I'm the Don of this shit". And the 50 cent Clyde Smith skit let Fitttty know his dig at the Clan didn't go unnoticed.

DAMNNNN!!

Wish I was in NY for this show going down tonight. The Ghost is one of my favorite cats to listen to. Definitely that rugged street feel mixed with intellectual lyrics. This cat is a beast. Definitely Hoody weather music.

Albums that defined us...............Only Built for the REAL!!

purp tape
Haven't felt this way in a long time, but everything about this period in my life was crazy.........We would play spades, get tilted, chase chicks, freestyle, get fly, rumble, strategize and build and this was the soundtrack to our lives.....................

Easily the best and most definitive WU record(in my opinion even tho' I get into Liquid Swords arguments all the time) but this one had it all. I remember listening to Power 99 late one night a few days before this album dropped......and they played the entire thing.....I don't even know if they edited it like that......but I still remeber how amped I was at hearing the rawness coming out of my speakers. I built with Akil the next day and I think he had taped it,but we were just blown away at how much better Ghost had gotten and how precise and intense the songs were. I had to get a pair of Clarks off the strength and I messed alot of peoples heads up when they saw me wit em(I ordered them direct because NO STORES had them in Philly or Jerz at the time). Listening to this album now I get the same feeling as when I first heard it. This album defined how me and my peoples felt we were at the time, just being those exclusive fly dudes around the way. This album has stayed in my cars since 1995. The cars have changed but the Purple Tape remains.......I have actually met both Rae and Ghost on seperate occasions and both are very humble cats with larger than life personas. Matter of fact one of the best shows I've ever been to was a few years ago. It was Slick Rick opening up for Rae,Ghost and Cappadonna. ALL The hits were played from various albums but I really really lost it when I heard "Yo,Yo check out the rap kingpin the black jesus I know a few niggaz sniff coke and caught seizures..........Then I almost dropped a tear when they did "Fish" from Ghost's album.

I also feel as tho' this album had the best RZA peak production, had the dopest skits and even though there were a lot of features(all the Wu minus ol dirty)the album was still Rae and Ghost definitively. Masta Killa did have the best verse of his career too(Glaciers of Ice, moving motionless mysterious swiftness).

Readers and listeners, this is why I could care less about the bile and trashiosity of the stuff I hear today. I'm still trapped in that Cuban Linx era. Still mad about the Source hearing this album and being shook to give it the 5 mics it deserved. Whoever gave it 4 and a half should smack themselves at least once a day.
rae and ghost

Picked up this video over at philaflava.blogspot.com......Just coincidentally check their blog out and peeped this so I had to add it to this post. They got some flava over there as well.
